How do you clean/sanitize the water filtration system on a refrigerator?

I by the skin of one's teeth got a free refrigerator from the inlaws that was sitting in the garage.
And I know its gross, but some mice chewed on the water hose accepted to the refrigerator.
It was never hooked up to a water line while it was in there but I don't feel comfortable just buying a new hose and filter and letting the water culvert out for a couple minutes.
If there is some sanitizing method you can share with me then great! Think I should get a technician? Do I need one?

I have a GE Rake it in Performance refrigerator with a built in water filtration system and ice maker. I've had this refrigerator for years. All of a sudden, the ice and water tastes like metal and smells moldy. I have replaced the leach twice and no luck.

Fill the dribble with bleach and run it through your system then flush out by running water through the system and repeat if needed.

We solely got a new refrigerator, a Kitchenaid Superba with Aquasense Water Filtration System, and I think the water tastes really bad of plastic. The filter is new - reads 90% surviving on the indicator. My husband doesn't seem to notice it but I find it very obvious. Does anyone know why this may be? Will it possibly go away after a fragment-in period??? TIA for any thoughts.

Same attitude happen to us when we got our new fridge. Yes it does go away. Just keep it flowing.
