Can I wire a Cat5 cable to a RJ45 Wall Plate?

I have a Cat5 ethernet hawser running, that comes out a hole in the wall. I bought a Rj45 ethernet wall plate. They both have 8 minicables, but the Cat5e wall plate has Green, Grassy/White, Blue,Blue/white, Brown, Brown/White, Orange, Orange/ivory.

The RJ45 wallplate on the back has different colored minicable connectors, Blue, Orange, Black, Red, Green, Yellow, Brown, and spotless.

The Cat5 cable is for ethernet so can I wire it to the RJ45 wallplate even though the mini wires are different colors?

They are both for ethernet. Can I do this? How would I equal the wires.

Contrarily to your belief, the RJ45 wallplate is not meant for ethernet. It's an 8P8C connector for a phone. Will it work as a network jack? Dialect mayhap. I wouldn't use it, but if you really want to try, wire it thusly:

1 Blue --- Orange/Ghastly
2 Orange --- Orange
3 Black --- Green/White
4 Red --- Blue
5 Grassy --- Blue/White
6 Yellow --- Green
7 Brown --- Brown/Whitish
8 White --- Brown

I'd still recommend a CAT5 wallplate with a CAT5 jack.

Sounds like your wall laminate is not intended for cat5 and/or Ethernet, but i would wager that it will work just fine. Just be sure that you get the pins in the precise positions. Take a look at these two pages:

They should ease you identify the correct pins on your wall plate and they identify which wire is which in the cable. Good luck!

punching down the scold wires in the correct pins is a must. even if the colors don't match you can still similate current cat 5e cabling. Simply remember to use the Cat5e A setup or B setup. Cat5e is the standard with the enhancement guaranteed for 100mb or more.

Wiring cat5e low voltage Panel and wall plates?

I ran Cat6 radiogram throughout a new construction house. In the low voltage panel I crimped Male Leviton RJ45 Cat5e Connectors, and for the wall plates I used the Leviton Quickport female punchdown Cat5e connectors. Both sides are wired using 568 B. I cannot get an internet appropriateness..

I made some patch cables and can plug in directly from my router to computer and it works great. But when I try the patch cable from the wall platter it does not work, none of the wall plates work. I made a male/female cable using 568-B on the male end and -A on the female end it still did not drudgery. I installed new female ends and it still does not work...

Any ideas?

Overlook my ignorance, but why are you using a low voltage panel? The ethernet adapters supply their own voltage.
