Some gold testers can be cute accurate if you are willing to spend a bit of money on them. Usually they aren't too bad, providing you don't buy one for next to nothing. If you want to be really precise get an expert thought.

I show electronic gold tester RS Mizar M24. Not only it set apart between plated gold but it also determine quality from 9 Karat to 24 Karat does any one know how this works?

It immerses the assay object in an electrolyte, and then measures the emf generated between the test object and a pure gold electrode. Chaste gold will give precisely 0 volts, impure gold or other metals will give a measurable voltage, different for each metal.

It is based on the points that a battery consists of two dissimilar metals in an electrolyte. If the metals are both the same (i.e. both pure gold) then no emf is produced.
