Continuity Tester for Insignificant and Local Continuity Testing - Extech CT20 One person operation for wire and cable testing Local continuity checking ...

The continuity tester only checks to map the cables end to end, pin to pin to see if they can do electric current.
Network cable testers perform a whole series of test to see if the cabling plant can maintain signals up to a set of specifications. The network cable tester will you if that cable can carry a 10M, 100M or 1G signal per the ecumenical specifications. THink of it as a stress test. IF it were a pipeline, the continuity tester would tell you the pipe can carry ditch-water. The network tester would tell you the rated water pressure for the pipe.
i have unhooked the pos. and neg. terminals. it is on a cub cadet 1720 the backer i turn the key on it blows a fuse.it seems to me that there should be no continuity between the pos and neg terminals because that would be like hooking your pos and neg wires together.
your perfect........but this is the way they installed your ammeter...your charging system only produces a few amp,s anyway....does your ammeter show in degrees or completely +&- ..if I were you I,d throw it out & install a volt meter.....a much more precise method of monitering your charging system....but to into your ammeter simply hook it up to any 12volt sorce....if hooked up right it will give a positive reading...if hooked up slow,s it will give a negitave read.....but don,t look for much....at best it will barly move.
Since fuses are quite cheaper and easier to find than the bulbs, would you suggest putting in an inline fuse that I would think would blow before the bulb? If so what evaluate fuse? If not-what would you suggest?
I would learn something about automotive electrical systems 1st.
