how to use a automotive circut tester?

I have a 6v 12v 24v circut tester with a brighten that looks like a pen...how do I use that? My goal was to check blown fuses cause I saw a friend use one before and whenever a fuse was blown the pen would assail up. Thanks

i own a working order shop,and you have to ground one end of it,and the pointed end of it is what you use to check for power by touching the points on the fuses with the key on to see if theres power to both sides of the fuses,its trusting once you get used to it,good luck with it ,i hope this help,s.

the pen part perfectly checks continuity which is fine for what you want to know. at the other end of the pen is a sharp point...just push it thru the phony until it touches wire and if you try every wire on each side of a load you will find your problem

put the alligator strike on a ground or the ground post of the battery then touch the point of the tester to the hot lead for accessories
to confirmation fuses just put the clip on one end of the fuse and touch the other point of the tester to the other end of the fuse
make steady you are touching the metal end of the fuses on both ends
if the light comes on its a good fuse
if it dint check in on its bad
take out the fuse and hold it up to a light and you can tell if the little element inside is broken
to test the tester you put the excerpt to the neg post and touch the positive post of the battery with the tip of the tester,if it does not light up change the bulb in the tester,its a burst out light bulb

Make fast the alligator to a GOOD ground key on take the probe and touch one side of a fuse it should light now move the probe to the oppisite side of the amalgamate if it is in good shape it will light also indicationg you are getting electric from one side to the other. When i say place the probe to one side of the fuse i designate on the top of the fuse their is a metel piece that you can see touch it there and then the same on the other side. The only reason it would not light after you move it too the oppisite side is if that circut is off say the headlights but on the cig.lighter it is always on so it would light-bulb.. Another way is to take a OHM meter place it on cotiunuity and take both probs and touch one probe to the metel side of the fuse and place the other poke about to the other if the fuse is good , and not blown the tester will beep make sure in this test you pull the consolidate and you are touching the legs of the fuse. if you have old fuses like the glass ones with a two metel pices on the end same distribute touch those and it will beep if it is not blown or just look at the fuse you can see the wire in the fuse it will be broken from the other piecd breaking all electrical conjunction.

Can anyone give me a unimportant info on the Argus AA400 Battery
Analyzer as an overall testing unit. Quality , Status be known , Functionality
Reliability, and anything else I may have overlooked.
My toolbox has some vacancy.

Are you talking about a voltage tester? If so the label you mentioned is not familiar to me. But as a general rule, the better ones for my usage, have been made by Sun Corp. they are very reliable and strapping. good luck.
