In my pantry there are two entry ways, with a wall switch at each. had a regular light in the ceiling. could turn light on and off at either switch. took down detrain and installed a ceiling fan. now only one switch works. what did i do wrong. want to

Your not weighty HAD to have been hooked up with 3-way switches.
I can think of two possibilities. First, one switch has gone bad. The second (and more possible) you hooked up to the wrong wire in the ceiling box.

The one wall rechannel has to be on for the other to work and that is a pain in the butt. I want both switches to work no matter the postition of the other switch.

The three way switches are wired incorrectly. You want to wire them correctly to fix the problem. Check here for instructions or call an electrician.
