Rotary switch Kraus & Naimer

DC Switching from Kraus & Naimer.

How would i make a 12v rotary switch step down to lower voltages?

Im looking to rearrange a small box for testing slot cars on, i have a 12v transformer feeding into a plastic enclosure, id like to put a 6 stride in keeping with rotary switch on the box and step down the 12v to lower voltages to test the slot car engine at lower revs.
thanks for your supporter

r_baton is correct use power resistors

The motor have a resistance of about 75 ohms and a power rating of about 3W

You should look to switch in about 2V steps, therefore you neediness 5x 75 ohm resistors wired in series, with the rotary switch moving down the tappings

1W resistors should be sufficient

It's a bit complex to excuse it here. There are several ways, do you need AC or DC or both? Do you need precise voltages or variable?
You could use a multi tap transformer or different voltage regulators. Or even a basic rheostat. It really depends on your specs.
You could get a book on variable power supplies, or if you phone the might branch of your local library they may stock practical everyday electronics, a monthly magazine full of outline ideas.
I may have some links to websites that can help you, if so I'll post a link for you.

You will essential a step down transformer with the appropriate windings. Where you would get one I have no idea, why not use a variac instead?

The easiest way regardless of AC or DC voltage would be to use a row of power resistors (looks like ceramic rectangles)
You'd need to know the defiance of the engine in the car to calculate exact values, but you could experiment by plugging in different resistors.
If it's only to check the cars, this is by far the cheapest and easiest solution, however it's wasteful in terms of efficiency and if you intend to use it for crave periods, then you should use a different design.
If you give me some numbers I can tell you exact values, but if it were me, I'd get some 10Watt wirewound resistors at 5, 10, 20, and 50 ohms, then try connecting them in series with the car. That way you can profession out exactly which values you want in your final design.
Stick it in a box and robert is your mother's fellow-man.

What is a rotary switch deck?

What is a rotary switch deck? Is seperate from the rotary switch? Does it dearth to be purchased seperately? Please help!

The deck is a layer of contacts that are operated by the switch post. It is the electrical part of the switch. Some manufacturers use a common drive shaft and detent mechanism and then add different decks to put on the desired functions of the switch. It depends on the switch manufacturer as to how they price this. Usually you would need to specify all of this together to get the correct add up of poles and positions and the sense of the contacts. Some contacts are break before make others are make before break. Also some decks are shorting decks that out of the blue a trim all contacts together except for the one for the current switch position.

best place to find a break before make 1 pole 12 way rotary switch?

where is the superlative place to find a break before make 1 pole 12 way rotary switch? i need a switch that can turn an indefinate number of times without being stopped, and the number of ways must be divisible by 3.

where is the wealthiest place to find a switch like this?
it can also be a 4 pole 3 way rotary switch

Allied Electronics should have the switch you demand. The bottom of the link below pretty much allows you to build the switch you want.
Mouser Electronics will do the same thing. See the second join.
Digikey is the thrid like and should also be able to supply the switch you want.
