how to make two push button switches perform the same function as a single dpdt switch?

i have a dc cog-wheel motor. to make it rotate in both directions using a dpdt switch is easy but if i have to do the same with two spst push and hold button switches how do i do it??
is it viable or will i have to use some different type of push and hold button switch??

no, not without a relay.

two push buttons switches, you have to concoct of what happens if you push both at the same time. Use of a relay would eliminate that problem.

I'd get a rocker DPDT switch.

You can't do it with spst switches no problem what without great risk to your power supply and you would need 4 of them because of the reversing current need unless you had a doubled headed (+ & -) power source, so a single ground but still with risk. Pushing the wrong button suspension would result in a dead short.
You could do it with a dpdt push on/push off switch wired the same as a throw switch (cross over wiring)

How To Make A Push-Button Switch?

Okay. For a drill project I need to make a push-button switch that will turn on and off a lightbulb. We are using two D cell (1.5v) batteries and can use almost anything else besides the true button. So, how can I make one? I really need detailed instrutions or a good diagram. Thanks!

Wire a push-button switch to close a circuit instead of open it?

I bought several pushbutton switches from Radioshack, and I lately discovered that pressing the button actually breaks the connection between the two pins, rather than closing the connection.

Is there some simple alliance of diodes that I could use with such a switch to make it close a circuit, instead of open it? It seems like it should be possible, but I can't get through one's head it out.

There are two prime single throw switch circuits: normally open and normally closed. You need a NC switch.

You bought a NO switch, when you stir it, it closes. Are all the switches the same, or was it an assortment. If not the same, likely one is NC and will work. Many switches have multiple contacts, so they do NO and NC at the same time.

Maybe thinkable to reverse circuit to work with diodes, but why bother? Switches are not expensive.

GK,
3 diodes is not a transistor, it's 3 diodes. Enlarge your 3 diode transistor some time, and you will find it doesn't work as a transistor! The models they use to teach about semiconductors have some valid characteristics, but are as a rule grossly flawed. You need to know when each model is valid.
