I am interested in aware if a hub or switch connected to a network downstream of a POE switch will carry the POE current on it's ports since they 192.168.1.70 carry all 8 wires as a rule. I realize this might be dependent on the specific downstream switch or HUB, so any general info based on experience is also appreciated. Thanks
It in fact just depends on the POE switch. Some are intelligent enough to sense if the device that is connecting requires POE and if it doesn't it won't push the electrical contemporary down the line. I would strongly advise going back to the manufacturers documentation and see what they say in regards to downstream devices not requiring POE.
I have an ORiNOCO AE "Switch". I bought this on ebay. It seems to have a publicize that detects devices and turns on/off the power running to it. However, this feature seems to only work with orinoco devices. I have three Mitel IP Phones that I necessitate to work with this. Does anyone have a solution for this?
you lack to see what revision of PoE your Mitel phones require and what the switch supplies. Several companies released their own flavor of PoE before the 802.3af guideline was ratified by IEEE. Products released after that standard was ratified, may or may not power on with products that were released before the yardstick.
I pine for to connect a PoE 8 ports switch to an other switch which is PoE too, but non of them has an uplink port and I don't want to burn the ports
Barely make a crossover cable and if you are worried about burning up the port just cut off pins 4,5,7,8. Those are habituated to to power up a device. Hope this helps
