How to set up networking

Will connecting my 3 computers into a network lash slow down the internet speed?
There will be no hastiness degradation on the backhaul connection from the switch thats connected to the ISP but the speed lag might be felt at the 3 computers which u be to connect... if the backhaul and the switch are fast enough this jitter would be minimum...
simply take it like... if bandwidth is 100... then if all 3 computers try accessing the internet the same however... the effective bandwidth for each computer will become 100/3 (THIS IS ONLY WHEN ALL 3 TRY TO ACCESS AT THE SAME TIME).... best case only one tries to acess... so bandwidth is 100... and at worst cases when all 3 try to access it becomes 100/3.... :)
Network switches, java programming, criticism code in netbeans
If the turn supports SNMP, then start here:
http://blogs.sun.com/jmxetc/entry/simple_is_not_easy
And then I mention favourably searching/googling for Java SNMP implementation libraries (there are open-source and free ones out there).
These 3 devices are all being hand-me-down for network connection. Though, each one of them have different functions and limitations. Please tell me specifically their differences and functions.
In computers and networking, dirt passed back and forth over the internet are divided into 7 layers, called the OSI model. The OSI model is important because it a "manoeuvre" that all manufacturers have to adhere to, to use TCP/IP (That way you dont have different companies using different standards, some of which dont labour with others)
Physical - The actual ethernet cable, phone line, fiber cable
Data - How the 2 devices on either end of the chain talk to make sure what you're sending is what the other is getting.
Network - This would be your IP address. Kind of like your mailing discourse. (IP works here)
Transport - In basic terms, handles traffic, sets up connections between computers/servers/etc. (TCP works here)
Term - Handles the communications between programs and applications and TCP/IP.
Presentation - how information is presented to you, Jpgs (pictures) are one sample.
Application - The actual application on your system.
Hubs work on layer 1. It's the physical media that's critical here.
A switch works at layer 2. If you go into a command window and type ipconfig /allIn particularYou'll see what's called a physical address. This is also known as a MAC address, and is what switches use to determine how traffic is to be routed.
Routers profession on Layer 3. They are responsible for directing traffic between routers, or routers and switches. Using the same command as above you'll see your IP Lecture. The Router uses IP Addresses when communicating.
Even though we may see www.yahoo.com when we type things into our browser, if you type in nslookup www.yahoo.com
You'll see that there's really an IP address assigned to yahoo.
