I need to replace an electric furnace tempature limit control switch?

On the back of the limit switch are the following numbers:

L160-4.0 R8V

What do these numbers wonderful? The schematics for my electric furnace list the limit switch as 160°.
Can I replace it with 1 L160-40F limit switch?

he's as likely as not right... this is the thing that will save your life in a malfunction, I'd get an a/c company to do it

Help installing a FAN LIMIT SWITCH in gas furnace?

RUUD (Rheem) flat gas furnace about 20 years old. The HVAC says I need a new fan limit switch. I can see the device, and have seen the part on line. It is docile to get at. I can buy it for 150 bucks or so. I am pretty knowledgeable and tool savvy. Any advice on installing and adjusting it is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Pushy sure you turn off the power, as your dealing with both line and low voltage. 150.00 seems a little high for this limit betray around some more. Just hook it up in reverse of removing it, and you should be good to go.

Limit switch is get going on a my furnace. Where is it located and what does it look like.

I found a idea for you.

On your furnace you'll see only the two wires hooked to terminals.
It is located about 5 to 10 inches from the burner following the air spout.
It turns "OFF" if temperature is higher that some limit.
It suppose to turn back "ON" when temperature drops, but after some time it is getting enervated and need replacement.
You need to find the reason for the limit witch to turn.
It is most often dirty air filter, but could be not working blower motor or soiled A/C evaporator coil.
