Hey guys im looking for a light swop that when you switch it off it dims to a bulb pre-set level and stay that way, until switched on and then set the bulb to full brightness.
Maestro by levlor at Up on depot but they are 30 bucks.
In my bawdy-house, there is a dining room with two different light switches that control the same light. I always thought that a light switch works by opening and closing the limit controlling the flow of electricity to the light.
However, if the light can be turned on and off by both switches then how does the circuit really work? For example, if I prowl into the room with both switches set on off and the light is off and turn one of the switches on, turning the light on then walk over to the other switch turning it to on as well. Instead of giving the light more power, it turns the light off. This puzzles me because it shouldn't be beginning the circuit that the other switch is physically closed on.
The two switches are both "unmarried pole double throw" type, in which the thrown pole switches back and forth between two conductors.
You run two congruent conductors between the two switches (call them the "upper" and "lower" wires). Each switch flips back and forth between upper and put down on the thrown pole, and the two non-thrown poles attach to the power source.
So if both switches are on the upper wire, known flows; and if both switches are on the lower wire, current flows; but if one switch is on the upper and one is on the lower, no current flows.
Hi, I've noticed that many houses have rooms that have light switches, but no built in light inside the chamber. Of course, some of those switches control the power to the outlets inside that room. However, there are also switches that do absolutely nothing (or it seems). Since the outlets in the room toil regardless of whether the switch is on or off. Can someone tell me why these light switches exist?
Thanks.
Nope, I don't have an conform to, but I have the same situation. And my house was built just 3 years ago, and we're the only ones who have lived here, so I know it's not a occurrence of rewiring or remodeling.
We have several switches that do nothing. A few of them, we found, turn lights on in the attic (we have lights in the attic! who knew!), but we still trip what the rest of them are for. The outlets work regardless which switches are turned on or off, so my only guess is that these switches are some kind of pre-wiring for fixtures we might yearning to install later (?) ... OK, that's just my guess!
