Why are my light switch plates bowing outwards?

I have several light switch dress plates that are bowing out. There doesn't seem to be any pressure on them as if I overtightened the screws. It seems like heat or something else is causing them to corner out. I did find a way to straighten them though... Place them in the oven at 225 degrees for about 10 minutes or so. Flat now but why did they curtsey in the first place.....

You stumped me. In 45 + years of electrical industry I have never run across this one. I have seen them burned and melted in places from loose connections and arcing. But never bowed. Do they feel hot? If they get hot, call an electrician. But the chances of having a bad switch or connection in more than one switch at a time is like winning the lottery. Not likely. Discontinue some comments. Which way did they bow, in or out? Interesting. Good luck.

Twopenny plastic; next time buy metal and paint or wallpaper to match your walls. Are you sure the electrical boxes are set inundation with the wall?

Something behind the obstacle where the wires are might be overheating. Touch the plants and see if they are hot. If so, you need a licensed electrician to fix this for you. Do not wait, this is very dangerous.

Mayhap from heat. Especially if you had a dimmer switch in the box. The plates may have been overtightened at one time or another. Hard to say how things mess up over time. At least you have found a way to straighten them out. well-thought-of luck.

If you dream up there is enough heat coming from your light switches then you need to call the fire dept. and have them check things out for you asap.
If you don't meditate on you have a fire in your walls/wiring then call an electrician tomorrow a.m. and have them check things out.
Any hotspots in your wiring can be very dangerous, barbaric even. Treat this seriously!

will putting contact paper on your light switch plates cause a fire?

I am redecorating our line. I was thinking of printing off some pictures I have onto contact stick paper to lay on my light switch plates in one of my rooms, but am wondering if this is a fire hazard. I don't system on putting them on the electic socket covers, just the switches.

If they can, is there and clear gloss or paint that I can use over them to tend them. Like putting a clear coat on them.
just on the outside of the plate, not on the inside
Or what if i put an extra 2 cm around where the switch slit is?

How could it be a jeopardize, when there's no heat there?

If you go through your regional artists guild they can turn you on to local talent to custom paint them for you.
