Some people denote the performance of wireless networks being identical or even better than wired networks...WRONG! When Fast Ethernet came out, it ...

Will it support up the shared internet connection or it's just for speeding up the data transfer from PC to PC?
It could toady up to a difference in PC to PC communications but it is very unlikely that an internet cafe has a fast enough internet connection for it to make any contrast to the internet speed.
A gigabit switch will allow gigabit connections on all of its ports so 2 PCs with gigabit nics could connect to the switch at that go and transfer data between each other at that speed but any connection to the internet would be much slower. Even a 10mb switch would be faster than needed for the association contact in most internet cafes.
Other than the looks, what are the presentation differences between these two 8 port Gigabit Ethernet switches?
Looks like they both do the same trend. It might be using different chip sets inside. I have the GS608 and it runs cooler when you use the legs to spinney it vertically, i.e. gets better air flow. You also see the lights on the front with the cable coming out the back, whereas the GS108 has the lights on the same side as the cables.
The switches are Linksys SR2024.
It truly depends on the switches used and the amount of bottlenecking you want. If you look at the switches before you purchase you will see in the tech specs how many clients extremity.
You are better off not daisy chaining switches, but having one central switch say a 24 port 10gig-e switch and then having 24 gig-e switches coming off this each with a 10gig-e uplink or module, to trim down bottlenecking.
