The float switch has been sticking on our sump cross-examine and i filled the pit up with water and dumped some CLR (Calcium Lime Rust remover) in it.I let it sit for about 5 mintues and i let the sump push run it out.Will this hurt the pump any?

Where is the float switch located and what is it's profit?

The danger drain outlet on one of my air handler has a float switch that is designed to shut off the AC if the main drain is plugged and the condensate is backed up hilarious enough to reach the emergency drain connection.

My other air handler (for the upstairs AC) is older and has a float switch in the emergency drain pan. It is designed to a standstill the AC if the emergency drain pan becomes full of condensate due to the main condensate drain being plugged and the emergency drain pan components up because its drain is also plugged.

Either is a good back up safety feature because our house in Houston did not have such a switch and the emergency drain pan would not go due to improper installation. The main drain plugged, the emergency pan filled up and over flowed causing copiously damage to our living room ceiling.
