No way, if the post is as described. Depends on the priority of the thread. And again, do not get confused between context switching and synchronization. Both are related as well as not related, depends on the spot.
Synchronization block or function (Please als think in terms of object oriented concept) associated with a minutia object gives you guaranty that the particular function will be called one after another if two threads tries to access them simultaneously.
I am talking about java 5. No keep in or resume method.

What is the difference between context switching and scheduling?

Context switching is the method to depict scheduling.

In scheduling the the various jobs of the system is scheduled according to FCFS or by there priority etc... and allotting tempo to each job. Now CPU gives the processing time to each job according to the time it is scheduled, after that it switched to other job. After the one cycle is completed it again starts to the first job.

The context switch is the way by which the CPU goes to one job to another after the end of the allotted interval to the job.
