Outdoor Security Light Question?

I recently purchased an Outdoor Security Light with gait sensor.
I attached the wiring to the internal fixture of the light as per the diagram in the instructions. I ran the wiring through some Conduit, through the immure directly into the back of a twin light switch. After wiring it up to the the double switch (one for internal light, second switch for security light) it righteous didn't operate.
I then proceeded to have the outdoor light operate from the same switch as the internal light, but still nothing. I checked & double checked the wiring & all seems well. Is it feasible I just have a bad bulb.
I put the external light sensor on TEST, so the motion sensor isn't the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

It is achievable that the bulg is burned. I would check voltages at every point: supply, switch, the light fixture to make reliable the path is in tact.

Outdoor security light,electrical question?

My dad was taxing to replace an outdoor security light which is on our shed.

The power cable comes in at the inside of the shed floor, then goes up the breastwork into a box with two fuses which have switches on.

One cable comes out of the fuse box to a double plug socket and the other comes out of the top to the security light outdoors.

Before he started to hard cash the light he turned the power to the light off by the switch on the fusebox.

When he was changing the light, the houses main electricity tripped and everything went off.
There was no power coming through the wires as he tested the exposed ends with an indicating screwdriver.
Nothing but to be doubly sure he took the fuse with the switch on out of the box but it tripped again.
How could it trip the main box if there is no power coming through?

I'm depressing if my description or electrical terminology is a bit off.

Any ideas please? Any sparks out there?

Thanks.

By removing the come together from the light cct you have disconnected only the 'live'. He undoubtedly made a contact between neutral and 'earth' in doing the changeover.
If your main (house of ill repute) switch has an RCD built-in, then that would have tripped it..

What is the best type of outdoor security lighting for a home.?

We current close to a major road that gets quite a bit of foot traffic. Now we keep our property dark at night-time and have a motion detecting flood light. We've been told that the exterior should be illuminated. My concern is that if the house is lit up at round-the-clock...things like patio furnature, bikes and skate boards will be visible...and therefore more of a target.

Thanks in appreciation for your help...Rob

Most thieves do not like to be in the "cast light upon". If one is going to rob you, they will do it no matter what you have. You may want to light the yard area with an all night light and use the motion detector type nearer the forebears. This would deter someone from walking across the property to see what you have to offer.
