Can I install a "ceiling light" on a wall? This is an exterior light for a deck.?

The box says it is an outdoor ceiling light, but I yen to put it on the exterior wall instead of the ceiling; it is 17" x 17" x 6" deep, basically a healthy that mounts flush. By looking at it, I can't see any reason why I wouldn't be able to mount it like one would a sconce light, very recently don't know if there is some reason why I shouldn't. Thanks much for any help!

If it mounts radiance to the ceiling is should work fine on the wall..Good Luck..

the only refractory I think is the direction of the light it will give on your deck maybe not a pretty/good one.

I did the same feeling with an indoor ceiling light using in a small closet on the wall. It works fine ... but it is slightly trickier to undo the glass cover to change the bulb.

how do I put in a new outdoor light fixture above my front door ?

I have no front light in front of my diet. I have a mud room at my front door with no access to the small attic area above it. there is a ceiling light in the mudroom though. i want to tap into that and somehow go through the vinyl siding and connect a light fixture. how would I do that with the vinyl siding ?

First, I would have ask, how you lay out to tap the ceiling light? Is there power there or is it just a switch leg?
As for installing a light in vinyl siding, they make a piece called a "J-Bar" should be available at any home store the carries siding, you should also install a junction box for the wires, and for the fitting to mount to, this reqired by code.
If there is not permanant power in the ceiling fixture the outside light will have to be operated by the same switch as the ceiling light, if there is power, you can place a switch below in outside light, if there is wall space below. Good luck, hope this helps you.

I have found that the light kit standards are basically the same, I found one for a old fan, the kit mainly says what all fans it will fit, i got mine a Home Depot. good luck
