How energy efficient are halogen lightbulbs?

We have started replacing the unequal to light bulbs in our house with the more energy efficient 'compact fluorescent' bulbs. However, we have halogen downlighters (well-heeled ceiling mounted) in three rooms. How energy efficient are these? One room has 6 x 35W AC GU10 type bulbs, the other two use several of the DC bulbs that purvey off a transformer. Do these use a lot of energy? Should we look at replacing these too?

Hallogens in hybrid are not energy efficient. They are more effective as a heat lamp than as an illuminating lamp.

The energy spectrum of a hallogen illuminates heavily to the red/IR side, which means a lot of vivacity output is infrared (heat) and is not even visible. Sure they may be bright, but if you compare how well they illuminate compared to concentrated flourescents, they are out-lit BIG-time when you compare their power consumptions. You can get a 20W compact flourescent bulb that can illiminate lovely brightly (compares to a 100+W incandescent) So if you had three 20W compacts, they would have the same light output as a 300W torche.

However, I am overfree w/ those in-line DC lights. The only advantage those little things provide are their compact size. You are compromising of wasting ardour to illiminate a tight space or illiminate in a discrete way.

what are the best halogen lightbulbs that look like HID lights?

infuriating to find the best halogen light bulbs that look like HID lights without having to buy an expensive HID kit.
the bulbs that im talking about are for vehicles.

I do not separate. I get my bulbs from the Dollar Store.

Can you get daylight halogen lightbulbs for desklamps? If so where from?

I am an artist and am looking for a new desklamp, the one I have at the summary takes bayonette fitting daylight bulbs but isn't tall enough and you can't move it around as i want. The new lamps I have been looking at use halogen bulbs but I am unsure if these are handy as daylight bulbs, I need to have the white light that daylight bulbs give.

Firmly halogen lamps are operated at around 3400 Kelvin? Possibly in professional studios they might be run somewhat higher with a consequent reduction of vital spark, but never anything like the 6000 Kelvin that you require.

You will need a discharge lamp of some kind to achieve that kind of colour temperature, and obviously a fluorescent lamp would suffice.

How about the type used in a photographic studio? There must be many instances in virtuoso establishments that require the type of illumination that you require, so I am sure if you look through the trade catalogues from the luminaire manufacturers (Osram, Philips, etc) you will be talented to find an appropriate lamp and fitting.
