What type of light (bulb) is best for growing regular indoor houseplants?

I lack to get lights for my indoor plants and I'm not sure which type of light (fluorescent / LED ?) would do best. It has to be a regular bulb because I'm having to use cheat lamps. Does anyone have advice? Thanks!

The foreshadowing label I'm sure is for when a regular light bulb is used that naturally put off lots of heat but the CFL bulbs put off less heat.

Typically yes, if it fits. The wattage rating is for white-hot fixtures that produce much more heat than CFL.
