30 Amp Fuse

Recorded on July 9, 2010 using a Go off the deep end Video camcorder at Barley's, Knoxville, TN.

What would happen if I put a 30a fuse into an appliance that used a 25a fuse before?

I recently blew a 25a fuse in a mini fridge which was soldered in. I currently don't have a 25a fuse to refund it with so what would happen if I used a 30a fuse instead?

As a Technician I strongly praise that you go back with a 25amp fuse. The 30 may cause overload problems in other components and either damage it or start a fire.

It could stress up a little more on the wire.

I'm no masterful, but I'd assume if for some reason your fridge drew more than 25 amps it'll likely get fried and your muddle will get more expensive than just replacing a fuse.

Although most fuses in homes are only 15amps, maybe 20...so I'm not safe you'd ever get to your 25 or 30.

Like I said...I'm no expert.

Don't return a fuse with higher amperage than called for.
It'll get the wiring too hot and you'll be in bigger trouble.
It calls for whatever amperage for a urge.

It is never a friendly idea to replace the fuse with one that is higher rated. The fridge was designed to handle up to 25A and anything over that will do damage. You could melt wires and start a fire, or on a lesser note do ruin to other parts in the fridge. Since this is a solder in fuse, then I would take the time to get the correct size fuse and solder that one in.

You may do it and get away with it, but then again you may not. Is it really quality it?

Get someone out and see why the fuse blew to begin with. Finally, if you do decide to replace the fuse with the 30A and that one blows, do not put another fuse in the device either get it fixed or get a new one.

As a Technician I strongly advocate that you go back with a 25amp fuse. The 30 may cause overload problems in other components and either damage it or start a fire.

Nothing will turn up until the circuit is overloaded again. Then it will take a little longer for the fuze to pop. The wiring might overheat and cause a fire or short out and electrocute someone.

You penury to go get the correct amp fuse for the appliance, If you put a bigger amp in then it is designed to take if something starts to go out in the appliance it wont blow the fuse at the time it is presume to and could ruin the appliance or catch on fire. Please do not use the larger amp.

Insure your up on now

the pithy answer is probably nothing. the fuse is oversized compared to the breaker feeding the circuit because when the motor starts a obese inrush current flows for a short time before the load stabilizes. It would be nice to get the right fuse but in this wrapper I doubt that it is a crisis as the circuit feeding the fridge is already fused at 15 or 20 amps.

Can you put a 35A fuse into a 30A fuse box?

My fuse blew for my fall at home last night. Its Labeled at 30A but i just went to buy a new fuse and could only get a 35A fuse. I have been told by a work colleague this is ok but my partner seems to concoct it will cause a fire... Please can someone help me.

First of all, discover the current rating of the shower unit. If it is less than 30 amps, then a 30 amp fuse is the correct one to use. The reason the fuse blew may be that the bombard unit has developed some kind of fault like inlsulation breakdown, or maybe there was a power pour which could also cause it to blow. Using a higher rated fuse than that recommended is dangerous and could cause a fire or electrocution if there is some genre of short circuit or insulation breakdown. The sensible thing to do is replace the 30A fuse with another 30A and if it blows again, do NOT use the appliance, but have it checked out by a adept.

Is it advisable to use a 30A fuse in circuits rated to carry only 20A?

yeah, i understand, it's kind of dumb to ask so. but our physics teacher asked this and we don't really know how or why it isn't sensible to do so.:)
