Can you replace a 3 amp fuse with a 5 amp fuse without repercussions?

This is specifically for a Bryant furnace, that burnt the 3 amp fuse on it's boundary board.

you can but it is extraordinarily not recommended!!!

the wires will over heat and cause major damage, if there was a short in the system the fuse blew in order to defend them from burning up.

Avoid fire hazard and use the right fuse for the job save your self from high costs of repairs.

No absolutley not. Never supplant a fuse with a larger one. The fuses are meant to blow. If the fuse doesnt blow it may overheat the wires and cause worse wound than a blown fuse.

using a higher fuse is risky! if your fuse keeps blowing, make sure it is the correct size fuse. this may not be easy. if it is the correct size fuse, then do NOT use a higher fuse, a fire may end result.....cool

As Brian M said ABSOLUTELY NOT! If you take a fuse that is meant to destroy before something else blows and put in a bigger fuse you are increasing the likely hood of burning up your circuit board. If you continue to knock 3 amp fuses I would recommend calling a service technician. There is a reason that fuse is blowing and you need to know why before a midget problem becomes a much larger one.

Never put in place of a fuse with a larger capacity one. You are likely to have a fire because the wire in the wall cannot take the added current.

Aside from property extermination issues, you may end up killing people.

Fire inspecters will then see the improper fusing and your insurance carrier will deny the state and law suits will start flying left and right.

In your case the circuit board may have a short - and may stress to be replaced; putting a larger fuse in place here will not help.

NO! There is a point circuits are fused at a particular amperage. It is to protect other devices down the line. You need to find out what caused the fuse to expel in the first place. Use fuses other than what is recommended, and you'll be replacing more parts than what you want.

The 3 amp fuse has gone on my laptop and I only had a new 13 amp fuse lying about. Is it safe to do this?

For a quid of the charger for the laptop. States on it 3 Amp fuse and the one i took out was 3 Amp. It was dead, didnt work, so i replaced it with a 13 amp fuse. It is working but im agonized it might overload it. Is it safe to do this?

You always have to ask yourself why the fuse blew in the first arise. If it was a very old plug top then that could explain it but as it wasn't then you need to check it out. Find another 3 amp fuse from something else (table lamp?) and if it blows again you need to buy a new charger. With the 13 amp fuse in now it will not mess up and could catch fire at worst or screw up your laptop at best.

My adept in AC has a short-circuit. I would like to know if I could replace the 3 AMP fuse with a 5 AMP fuse? Any harm/overheating?

Just to clean, this is for a home gas furnace

no do not put a higher rated fuse in than what was there to begin with...reasons are to protect the wiring from overheating and melting possible fire hazard...where is this 3 amp fuse ...is it in the electronic check board in the inside unit...if yes ...then you need to call an hvac tech to come and find out why it blew...
