Can I use a 25 amp fuse instead of a 20 amp on my Ford Excursion?

My blinker, jeopardy and brake lights were all not working. I had one of those fuses that lights up when it is out, and it did. So I changed it, but it lit up again. It calls for a 20 amp. I found a 25 amp and put it in, and they are all working again. The vade-mecum says it can cause a fire if I have a larger amp than it calls for. Is it okay, or should I get it checked out? Could I just unplug another fuse that isn't inescapable to prevent an overload on the system?
It turns out the new 20 amp fuses that I bought were bad. I went on my 4th trip to the auto parts hoard and got some new 20's and it worked perfectly. Problem solved. Thanks for all your help everyone!!

In theory it could agent a fire. The odds of 5 amps over design specification causing a fire? Not very much.

When engineers design systems they will "over manipulation" them as to prevent failures.

For example you have a swing set that is designed to hold 250lbs Max. Does that miserable once you put 251lbs it will break? Of course not. More than likely it will be able to hold 500+lbs.

In summary, this is a good fugitive fix... but why risk an electrical fire for a $0.50 Fuse? Go to your local auto parts store/ walmart. Its a hackneyed item. If you keep blowing the 20Amp fuse, you may have a short somewhere. That would need to be fixed asap. A short could easily cause a fire, no condition what fuse you put in it.

If a 20 amp fuse is blowing, it's composition excessive current. If you over rate the fuse, you can indeed overload the wiring and cause a fire. Find and repair the problem and use the proper fuse.

you have to use the same proportions fuse,,or you could damage the system,,,you can pull it from else where,,but they are cheap,,you can go buy a box of different sizes

not too big of gall ,but i would try to have the problem repaired before long if it does burn wires or something it could be expensive to repair (wiring line goes by the hour not flat rate so it can a huge repair bill)

The fuse is designed to go out if there is a poser somewhere. You don't want to bypass that safeguard.

50 Amp fuse on power cord hurt a amp only with 25 amp fuse?

If i was to buy a power line that was 4 gauge with a 50amp fuse. Would it hurt the amp with a 25amp fuse?

What would happen if I replaced a 15-amp fuse with a 20 or 25-amp fuse?

I actual in an apartment building that was built in the 1920s. Every two neighboring units are wired together, so whenever my neighbor uses his microwave or turns his mini-heater on, the power in our units goes out, and one of us has to go out to the hallway and effort the button on the mini-breaker fuse (it's one of those fuses where you just push the button to restore the bearing). I am getting tired of my power going out when I am online or watching a good show! Would replacing the 15 amp fuse with something higher ease the problem?

Fix the neighbor.

The question is a overloaded circuit. Either he has too many devices on the same circuit and the added load of the Microwave or heater pops the breaker. give someone a tongue-lashing him to move some appliances to other outlets. Two aptments can not legally be running all their circuits on one breaker. Nuts I have 2 for my kitchen alone.

If you very do have 2 apts on one breaker only speak to the building manager, youmay have a building code violation there.
