Need info on wood burning furnaces ?

I hankering to get a wood burning furnace installed this summer ,I would to hear some of the do's and dont's ......before I decide on what variety and etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Present sure you make the side of the chimney water tight.
Ensure that birds can't nest in it.
Write sure the chiminey is wide enough and that you can regulate the air flow.
Make sure you get a good screen to not itch anything around the furnace.
Get a good kist to store wood in. Make sure you have a brush and scoop to get ash out.
Make stable the grid is a good spacing for airflow and won't drop everything through.

Why is the Oregon :Legislature conspiring with the Oil companies to outlaw wood burning stoves and furnaces?

The specify has passed legislation that forbids wood burning stoves and furnaces to operate with no visable plume.


This is a far greater regulation that the Stately has for oil burning furnaces.

I believe they passed the legislation in order to protect the woods.
I myself like the smell of the wood burning, but I support all other alternative ways of heating that do not dirty the environment. This brings me to the oil question; I do not think that oil burns cleaner, but by burning oil, we protect the woodlands.

All I be acquainted with is that they must have a very high chimney to avoid the wood smoke from over-taking your building at window level. Sight position and wind direction along with distance from the building are all keys to being happy with this type of heating source.You also extremity to consider how often you need to replenish/refill for continuious operation-(long wood vs common sized wood) and auto dampening features. A well concieved diagram along with sight preparation can make for limited attendence to such an appliance resulting in a joy to opperate while laughing at the utility co's efforts to seperate you from your angry earned cash.
