why does the hold of kansas think wall furnaces are not safe for
a Foster home ? and are safe for every body elses home?

it is harder to legislate things in a clandestinely residence. foster homes have stricter gudelines/regulations than private homes.

Can a wall furnace be left unwatched?

I farm out and I have a couple of wall furnaces running on natural gas. Is it safe to leave them unwatched while I sleep or am our for the day?

I already have anything combustable far away from it and a carbon monoxide/fire detector not far-off.
Both units have a thermostat.

Of course I mean can they be left alone safely.

They should be rightful as safe as any other furnace. I had one for many years in my place, it was very good.

Westwood C50D gas wall furnace need parts diagram/manual?

Westwood C50D gas wall furnace bought in 1977 I want a parts diagram/Manual for this unit. I think the thermocouple needs to be replaced. Trying to find a website that deals with old or out of fixture furnaces.

Is it still operative? (Age causes a combustion chamber to lose efficiency... you may be wasting fuel with an old segment) It may be time to replace it anyway.

Read ALL of the following if you want to test your theory.

TEMPORARILY Try to bypass or override the thermocouple - either as a (pun not intended) hotwire or by means of an added rechannel. Do this ONLY to TEST the rest of the unit.

Running this way can cause overheating and FIRE HAZARD! Thermocouples are often used to learn the SHUT OFF temperature! DO NOT RUN ANY HEATER WITHOUT THE PROPER SAFETY INSTRUMENTS IN PLACE.
Please do not try to operate the unit as a tender thermocouple - they (humans) don't work well at this for long... and the old one lasted 30 years longer than a anthropoid replacement would!

If the unit otherwise operates as you expect- examine the thermocouple itself-- they're generally made by outside suppliers... and it may be accomplishable to find a model number on that unit.
