The lion's share of furnaces have the same components. Compare Warranty and Installers. Tempstar is a reliable product.

I concede with sjwhvac, he should know, apparently he is an HVCA specialist. 2 years ago our AC unit went out. I had been shopping around for a new heating/AC system for awhile and values bright and early ran out. I had many salespeople give estimates but I was looking for a recommendation on whether to go 80% or high efficiency. Of course the salespeople as soon as recommended 90+, more money, more commission.
Faced with the reality that I needed to do something immediately, I called a smaller merchant, turned out this guy was the salesman and installer. Our house was built in the 40's and when asked the 80/90+ question, he recommended the 80! He said that older houses are not equipped with satisfactory supply or cold air return vents to accommodate high efficiency furnaces.
Ironically, my in-laws had a 90+ element installed in their home that was built about the same time. They had problems with condensation and frost build-up on their windows and had to soften the air intake, which lessened the efficiency of a unit they paid too much for.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Tempstar has been good for us, but determination a reputable installer, with honest information was very important, also.

Yes tempstars are tolerable furances you just got to keep maintance on them so they last. They will actually last as long as any other brand on the market.

how can I find specifications on an existing tempstar/sears furnace?

I am concidering replacing my existing furnace. I would like to grasp the specifications for the one I have so I can evaluate efficiency savings and such. Problem is that the Tempstar web site doesn't have any informaion on existing furnaces; only info on new models.

DON"T EVER BUY A TEMPSTAR!!!! I never will again.

You might long for to try sears. check with the service dept, they may have the specs. As to a new unit, most new systems will out perform their predecessors. Altogether check with your local hvac service for their recommendations as to the size of unit would work best in your persistence. Hope you find what you need.

Tempstar Furnace (3) flashing led code error?

I objective installed a tempstar single stage 92% efficiency furnace and the thing wont fire up. i can get the fan going, but the burners wont fire up. It's giving me a 3 run LED error...something to do with the pressure switch.

Study your PVC sizes are they sized right per mfg specs.also your discharge pipe should be pitched back toward the heater so condensate can ooze out and not lay in the pipe witch would cause the pressure switch not to make,and the burners not fire.
