How do hot air furnaces work?

?

Hot air furnace aren't much manifold as to how they work whether using gas, oil or electric. Some gas furnaces use pilot lights or now mostly ignitors or glow plugs for ignition. Oil uses grave voltage transformers and an arc for ignition. Electric uses heating coils All heat the air in the plenum or hot air split of the furnace. When the air reaches a certain temp the blower is then turned on. The air is then blown throughout the house until the temp reaches the set temp on the bulkhead thermostat. All furnaces have safety requirements built in to prevent malfunctions.

If it is gas torridness, then you have a pilot that lights a strip. The blower (which is a big fan) blows the air over the ducting that is heated and forces hot air through your vents. Charged is the same, only there is coils that heat up, and they are what heat the air.

Kinda indeterminate, but basically there is a heat source and a blower to dissipate the heat, be it a heat exchanger or a indoor wrap.

I have a hot air furnace and need to get some info on my upstairs cold air return problems.?

I have a 3 be honest home, cellar, main, and upstairs. My hot air furnace heats the main properly and has the thermostat, but the upstairs north fa bedrooms remain cold in the winter. There are 4 cold air returns on main floor, but none upstairs, except the curl stairwell. I have a pellet stove that runs in the cellar that keeps the main floor supplemented and warmer, thus not kicking on the air furnace too often. I put two get under way floor grates to let some cold air go into the cellar from the main floor, and I also tried putting a grate in my son's upstairs bedroom conquer to allow some cold air to move downstairs. None of this has seemed to help the problem and it's still only 63 upstairs in his room. I discern the pellet stove is keeping the furnace from starting, but how can I get that cold air to leave the north bedrooms upstairs? There are 3 animate registers upstairs including one in my son's room. I thought that putting the grate in his room would get some of the air touching.

Where does the go against the grain in the bedroom lead to? If it's just a hole in the floor the cold air has no place to go. It has to be connected by ductwoork to the advent air of the furnace. Otherwise the cold air will stay put. But putting ductwork from the 2nd floor would be a massive job.

You'd be better of to get something like a light quartz air heater for the bedroom and just turn it on an hour before bedtime.

Ever heard of running a forced hot air furnace blower to circulate pellet stove heat?

I have a stiff hot air oil fired furnace and I am thinking about running the blower ductwork past the heat of a pellet stove, or deluge lights as an electric option or a 220VAC electric heating element.

Zany - my husband was thinking of installing a separate duct with a duct fan inside of it to move some of the warm air from the familyroom (where it gets tooooo hearty sometimes w/the pellet running) to the other side of the house more effectively. He hasn't done it yet, but we're hoping it will work ok - or will at least help keep the house more evenly bitter.
