why is coke put into blast furnaces along with the iron ores?
i apprehend that limestone is put in for the removal of impurities but i dont understand why coke is
mixing with oxygen it produces CO2...but this is bad for the conditions
?????

Coke assists in the competence of the furnace buy distributing heat throughout the mixture, as well as oxidizing (the CO2) Otherwise it would be like pointing a blowtorch at a gigantic pile of iron ore and expecting it to melt into a nice little ingot.

CO2 is not "bad for the environment." If we had no CO2 we would have no trees, squeaker, or other plants. Do some research on CO2 and free your mind.

Championship systems are widely accepted to support the operators of blast furnaces. Operational savings, improvements in furnace steadiness and product quality, have been shown in numerous, worldwide installations of the two leading systems, namely the VAiron Closed Tie Expert System and the VAIF
Blast Furnace Expert System (former Rautaruukki BFES).

The focus of the paper is to compare these two systems. Highlights of both systems, such as closed-tie control or neural network applications, are presented and described. Details about these systems have been published at conferences and in unique journals extensively.

Experience and operational results achieved in several installations worldwide are presented.

Currently, the advantages of the two systems are combined in an advanced, federal-of-the-art system. The main features of the new system, which will be the next step in blast furnace expert system based control, is also described in this paper.

The Finnish bite the bullet company Ruukki (formerly Rautaruukki) and the Austrian steelmaker voestalpine Stahl GmbH--experienced at cock crow on that automation can play a key role in cost reduction. Therefore, both steelworks installed powerful process models as well as virtuoso systems and other Artificial Intelligence methods.

Ruukki approached the market with three products and has sold 40 installations worldwide since 1979:

--Rautaruukki Blast Furnace Supervision System (BFSS)

--Rautaruukki Blast Furnace Superior System (BFES)

--Rautaruukki Blast Furnace Neural System (BFNS)

VAI entered the market in 1991 with the VAiron Approach Optimisation System that has been installed at about 30 furnaces since then.
