How can I fix my laptop power cord without having to buy a new one?

My power cord for my laptop doesn't travail right. Sometimes the power works fine, but other times the computer switches to battery power even when it is plugged in. I'm not sure what is wrong with it but I can't positively afford to buy a new cord

Hi, it deep down is best that you don't try to fix this as it could be dangerous to do so. Although the cord will cost you, it is worth paying for rather than risking your safety.

that may not be the cord as a matter of course but a problem with ur socket. You cant fix a power cord if it doesnt work.

When should I replace my laptop power cord?

I have an HP Compaq presario laptop, and it has been impotent to keep a charge lately and turns itself off. I just replaced the battery, but the power light still doesn't turn on when I recommendation it in. Should I replace the power cord?

That's the next sensible step.

I'd take it to a shop to try it before you buy it first, though.
If that doesn't work then there's only one costly option left.
(Well, two, but any shop will charge you a lot to solder, too)
