Headphone extension so I can listen to music on the computer?

My computer's eager drive is on the floor and many times I want to listen to music on the computer. However, the headphone cord isn't long enough. Is there a type of headphone that has a longer cord or a way to fit using an extension cord?

You can get "3.5mm Mini Block extension cord" for a few buck in any local RadioShack, electronicsstore or on the net.

Why do I only get one channel in my stereo headphones when I plug them into an extension cord?

Does this intend the headphones are faulty or the extension cord is? Sometimes it works if I wiggle the area where they are connected, but I find myself doing this constantly. Do I need new headphones, extension cord, or is there a cheaper explanation?

If it only happens when the extension cord is in use accustomed to, that's the problem. If it happens with just the headphones replace them.
