What is the best way to paint a gold chandelier black?

I'm looking for a tatty alternative other than buying a new fixture. The chandelier is a typical gold dining room chandelier. Any suggestion on how I would go about painting it black?

Also where can you pay for those little lamp shades

You can increase paint it black. Check into the Rolling Stones version of "Paint It Black".

Yes, but use a solicitous primer first, like Kilz or Binz for metals.
Then spray paint the item. Best subject to do with hanging lamp hardward is to hand it from a shepherd's hook or clothes line, etc. outdoors. You can always inundate the hook
