How to change a light bulb on chandelier where bulbs are facing up?

I physical in house with 2 story foyer. In that foyer I have a chandelier with few light bulbs that I need to change. The height is approximately 16 feet. The difficult is that the light bulbs are facing up so devises like light bulb changers with long poll will not work. Being on the on the second knock over - it is closer to the chandelier but still out of reach. Anybody can suggest an effective solution on how to change a light bulbs in my case without hiring a contractor?

Any contractor who installed that appliance is an idiot. I run into that problem and refuse to install something that cannot be serviced. If you do not have the safe eqpt to reach the bulbs then you shouldn't endeavour it yourself.
That said, try this. Purchase one of those screw drivers that is flexible and can be used in any position. Jury rig this to your bulb changing take exception to. The best bet is to change the fixture to one that is more suitable to the location and the problem is gone forever.

Well, if you don't have scaffolding, then peradventure you could rent it or borrow from a friend. Then, change the bulbs to the compact flourescent bulbs b/c not only are they more energy efficient, but they last something like 7 times longer than permanent bulbs; so you won't have to go through this again any time soon.

Get an 8 foot stepladder. If you brake on the top of it you should be able to reach the bulbs

I have a chandelier with light bulbs that face up, not down, it's 20 feet up, how do I change them?

I can't prop a ladder up because there's no where to prop it.

I did this last week - lease a 16' step ladder. it cost about $30

If I only use 2 of the 4 spaces for light bulbs in my chandelier (to make it less bright), am I saving energy?

you can bet your bippy. I only use one of 4.A 14 watt mishandle in fluorescent. It puts out equivalent to 75 watt bulb. That's a 80% savings. Your on the off track. Good luck
