I bought a set of 4 lamps from IKEA and went to set them up only to find out that they do not use accepted light bulbs. On the back of the lamp it says to use "Type B" bulbs and on the website it says to use Chandelier bulb E12 Max 40W. What in the planet are those light bulbs can I find them at a local store or do I have to drive back to IKEA and find them?
It is a shallow base bulb and should be available at most hardware stores, including Kmart and WalMart.
I bought an old chandelier that I would like to touch up, but I want it to give off more light. Is there a way to convert the bulb outlets to standard size? I was thinking I could change the small ones to guideline size and then use compact fluorescent bulbs so I wouldn't exceed the recommended wattage. Help?
google " candelabra fluorescent" but if you miss it to be bright . you need to get one that is rated higher than the equivalent. To me the cf lights are always dimmer than rated and need to go to higher crop rating for same output. just get one or two to try before you buy a bunch of them.
I alight in house with 2 story foyer. In that foyer I have a chandelier with few light bulbs that I need to change. The height is generally 16 feet. The problem is that the light bulbs are facing up so devises like light bulb changers with extensive poll will not work. Being on the on the second floor - it is closer to the chandelier but still out of reach. Anybody can suggest an effective unravelling on how to change a light bulbs in my case without hiring a contractor?
Any contractor who installed that meet is an idiot. I run into that problem and refuse to install something that cannot be serviced. If you do not have the safe eqpt to reach the bulbs then you shouldn't try it yourself.
That said, try this. Purchase one of those screw drivers that is flexible and can be used in any position. Jury rig this to your bulb changing faithful to. The best bet is to change the fixture to one that is more suitable to the location and the problem is gone forever.
