How do I get to the files / server (via a browser) I am running on a LAMP virtual appliance using VMware fusio?

lamp.village brings up nothing.
localhost brings me to the network i'm running on my osx

Best clothes thing to do is not run a LAMP server in VMware. It is not the most optimal thing to do. I would run a dual boot system. If you are someone that needs a GUI (graphical alcohol interface) then you should load on a standard Linux OS like Ubuntu. Then go and set up your lamp server inside of that. Then if you NEED to have windows operation at the same time, I would run windows under a VMware window. Linux is FAR more efficient with its running so it will be faster that way. Unless you have knowledge of what you are doing, don't run the server version. It does not come with a GUI. But you can load the standard Ubuntu OS and then add Apache server to it.

Which is more desirable for server-side virus protection for emails? A hardware appliance or software app.?

We bought Transfer Server and will be deploying it soon. We just need to decide on virus protection for our incoming emails. The two contenders so far are the Barracuda Spam Firewall 200 and GFi MailSecurity. We have about 80 users.

To me, the advantages of each seem to be as follows:
GFi MailSecurity is principally designed specifically for virus scanning and comes with 2 good virus-scanning engines (and we already have a Bayesian spam pass through that does well for us, so we do not necessarily *need* spam filtering).
The Barracuda costs less initially, costs less per year to persist in the updates, and does not take up resources on any server.

To me, the cons of each seem to be as follows:
GFi is a little more expensive.
Barracuda seems designed initially to filter spam and scans for viruses as a secondary objective. (It is a Spam Firewall).

If suggesting a abundant product altogether, just remember we are on a budget--and that is why you do not already see Trendmicro listed.

Now this is a entertain, Thank you!

What I would do is get another box running linux and install ClamAv (open source). Sit this between the network and the mail server, and have all of the information run through the linux box, scan and pass it on to your server and visa versa. This will also protect your network server because you can use the linux box as a firewall.

Out of the ones you mentioned. Sounds like GFI is the most skilfully. You don't want to cheap out on av, as it will cost you later on. I like the linux idea, because then you can save on the AV and the linux box will not be upset by any windows virus, trojan, rabbit, worm etc. that runs through it.

Send me an email if you have any questions. In fact. I'll get back to you when I can, but I will get back to you.

Good Luck!
PS. I would love to know what you end up going with.

Clientless VPN appliance for use with MAS200 without the need for Terminal Server?

We have an auspices setup with Windows Server 2003 Standard.
This server has our accounting software installed on it (MAS200)
Remote users also have the accounting software installed on their laptop.
Therefore, the lonely user would start up their VPN client, open their local MAS program which would automatically connect to the server through the VPN tunnel and they would go about doing what they have need of to do.

However, doing this old fashion way means that their entire internet connection is taken over via the VPN and slows their connection down... I saw your clientless VPN and I allow, I hope, that this means only applications in the browser window make use of the VPN, while other programs that use the internet outside of the VPN browser window is not stilted by this.

Here is what I am looking for and my current understanding of the SonicWall VPN SSL 2000.
1.My remote users will continue to have MAS installed on their laptops.
2.The server persistence of MAS200 will be on the Company Server (Windows Server 2003)
3.I want my remote users to use the SonicWall clientless VPN to connect to the SonicWall VPN SSL 2000 at the backing.
4.I want them to be able to launch MAS200 on their laptops and be connected through MAS200 on the Server (without the need to use Terminal Server, wholly because it is not needed in MAS (since the users already have the local program installed on their laptop) and it slows everything down).
5.While users are connected to the SonicWall VPN and using MAS, other utilization that they are using locally (example, email) will not be affected or use the VPN connected created.

Is this possible with SonicWall SSL VPN... or any other VPN you may praise that could accomplish the above?
To Answer Frank's additional question:
Q: Whaty bandwith does your vpn require to run effectively?
A: According to MAS, recommended is 56 kb/s

2. Do you all use a static or dynamic ip address?
A: Static IP address
