Is landlord responsible for repairs to built-in appliances and another he purchases/owns?

The appliances are in a leased concern and the repairs are not due to negligence or misuse by the lessee. There isn't any reference to appliance repair in the lease.

this is a obscure area--state to state it varies--here in Nj we are only required to provide a working Stove, read the swell print of your Lease and if your answers arent their--talk directly with the owner--and find out how he feels.

Typically if something breaks the manager repairs/replaces it. You would have to pay for it only if you broke it. Sounds like a pretty cheap landlord.

b) What is the standard deviation?

The expected compute of calls per hour is the mean value. It is obtained as 'sum of xp'. Here it is 0*0.1+1*0.3+2*0.4+3*0.2 = 1.7 (the symbol * indicates multiplication). Thus an common of 1.7 calls may be expected during one hour.
The standard deviation will be E(x^2) - (E(x))^2. This can be calculated as 0^2*0.1 +1^2*0.3+2^2*0.4+3^2*0.2 - 1.7^2 = 0+0.3+4*0.4+9*0.2 - 1.7^2 =3.7 - 2,89 =0.81.
