Question about Mail in Rebates?

Why do companies give deals but in the breed of a mail-in rebate? If the product is going to cost less with a mail-in rebate, why don't they just tell on the product originally for the lower price? I am looking at ordering a new computer and television off the internet as I live in a pint-sized town with no appliance or electronics stores, and will not be able to get to the city for a while. I am just curious what do I have to watch out for when dealing with send in rebates?

Well, the way I see it, it's a way for the to make a "special price", but at the same time they know that some people will just not do it, or forget to send in the rebates. So while most people buy the matter with intentions of sending in the rebates, they don't, and the company therefor doesn't have to give out the rebate. If they did instant rebates, then that's 100% the consumer will get the detract from.

Are there any rebate programs in Il. for high efficiency appliances/furnace/air conditioners?

Looking for a mark down on my boss's new home. He used high efficiency products for everything from the fridge to the furnace. I have researched on the web, but cannot find anything Illinois explicit. I know there is a tax incentive this year, but I am looking for a rebate. Thanks.

I compliment your boss on his wise investment, however, unfortunately for him the US did not sign Kyoto so I guess no cash incentives for him to be fresh.

Does anyone know how energy efficient rebates work?

My silence and I have built a house and that we just moved in too, yes we are very excited! Anyways, we have gone all green. Well tried to at least. We have a intensify-pump, two ton fan coil, tankless water heater and icynene in the walls and attic for insulation in our diet. Also all of our appliances our brand new and energy efficient. Now we were curious if we would get any tax rebates or any money back. I claim 2 (I make more well off) and my husband claims 0. Or will we end up owing? Is there a website I could go to see if we would get any money back? Ok Thanks for all of the input!

Obstruction with your electricity company (DWP). Normally their website has a list of rebates offered and how to receive them. I know the appliances will ready for cash rebates but the tax rebates are minimal. Take a look at:
http://www.energy.gov/taxbreaks.htm

If you claim 2 and your husband claims 0 and you own your about you will definitely get money back. A good conservative estimate is about 30% of your income for federal taxes. Take a look at your next pay remnant it will tell you how much in taxes you've already paid. If that amount is greater than 25-30% of your annual salary it's a safe bet to change what you be entitled to so less is deducted for the rest of the year. If your income hasn't changed from 2007 then your best bet is to review your 2007 tax forms and I wouldn't rely too much on the dash rebates since they are minimal.
