I am trying to compute the cost and the number of hours/minutes an electrical appliance is used using Excel.?

I am worrisome to compute the cost and the number of hours/minutes an electrical appliance is used with the end time being within the day or more than 1 day. The cost per hour is 6.875 and outlay per minute is 0.1146. Can anyone help me accomplish this using Microsoft Excel?

EX.
CELL A1 = start once in a while
CELL B1 = end time
CELL C1 = total number of hour(s) used or add up to number of minute(s) used
CELL D1 = total charge amount

If the times in A1 and B1 are could refer to other days, the date and time need to be entered such as:
A1: 1/5/2008 2:07:00 AM
B1: 1/6/2008 4:50:00 PM
If you enter =B1-A1 in C1, the result will be in days, so you require to multiply by 24: =24*(B1-A1). That should give you the number of hours (38.716667). Then you have only to multiply C1 by the hourly rate to get the whole charge amount.

I'm not growing to do it for you, but here's a hint: you're going to need a cell to input the wattage of the device -- that objective happens to be a rather integral factor in kWh consumption.

And if you're going to bother actually creating a spreadsheet to do this, you should have a room to input cost/kWh -- it varies and you don't want to be stuck with a fixed rate.

As for converting dated in vs time out to minutes and hours, that would be fairly complicated. I would use a built-in function in Excel and not try to invent the algorithm from eliminate.
