How do I compute the cost of electricity to run 1 appliance for 1 hour?

The appliance is 1000 watts. The bring in of electricity is $0.14 per Kilowatt hour. Thank you.

Shadow the units

1000watts * (1 kw/1000watts) * ( $0.14/kilowatt*hour)*(1hour)=$0.14

Watts are in units of Joules per Another.
Your appliance uses 1000 Joules/Second, then.

The cost of electricity in your area is $0.14 for every Kilo-Joule Hour (a kilo-Joule is a thousand Jules).
Thus 1000 Jules = 1 Kilo Joule. So the appliance uses 1 Kilowatt of tension every second (this is about 10 times the amount of an ordinary light bulb).

Now we need to convert seconds to hours for the appliance's intensity consumption.
There are 3600 seconds in an hour (simply doing 60s/min*60min/hr). Hence, the appliance uses 1/3600 th Kilowatt hour of energy, every hour.
The cost for one hour is then: 0.14*1/3600 = $0.000038.

the guy is high-mindedness cause the appliance is in watts and the price is in Kilowatt hours

Megan is fairness. the other two are way wrong.

And it's so simple.

1000 watts is 1kw
1kw for 1 hour is 1 kw-hr
1kw-hr at 14¢ per kw-hr is 14¢

ZAZ, you are totally confused. there is no such thing as "Kilo-Joule Hour" vitality multiplied by time is ?? who knows what.
Energy divided by time is power.

How can I figure out exactly how much it will cost to run a particular electric appliance for 1 hr?

I'm in view of running an air conditioner

Yeah, but where's the intermission of it?

u need the watts used from something like a kill-a-watt meter
u need the cost of intensity per kilowatt-hr

watts/1000 * hrs * cost/kwh = cost

1000 watts/1000 * 1 * $0.10/kwh = $0.10

now it it starts and stops as in compressor on/off it gets more labyrinthine.

can i use a single point electric tankless hot water for a small home, if i only use 1 appliance at a time?

Electrifying tankless units are known to be terribly inefficient, I wouldn't attempt it. Go with gas much More efficient.
